Preston City Congregational Church is the first church to be established in Preston (1698). At the time of it’s founding, the state of Connecticut required that the town be able to “maintain” (support) a minister. People from many different faith traditions find the church to be a friendly and welcoming congregation. The church supports numerous local and overseas missions. At present, the food pantry serves those in need from many surrounding towns. Over the years, the church has taken on church expansion and renovation projects; 4.5 acre land purchase (1990), Christian education wing addition (2001), and most recently the renovation of the Sanctuary (2014). The congregation is vibrant, – comprised of many children, high school and college aged young people, adults and seniors who strive to love, support, and encourage each other.
Rev. Rae Perteet has been the pastor of the Preston City Congregational Church since this past summer.
