Rev. Dr. Irven Gammon, Executive Director & Moderator

Rev. Dr. Irven A. Gammon worked in Maine as a builder from 1980 until 1998, when he enrolled as a student in the Master of Divinity degree program at Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, Maine.  He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies/Christian Traditions at St Joseph’s College of Maine during his masters work at BTS.  Simultaneously, he was invited to become a “Fellow” participant in the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies (CFTS) program through the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches.  Dr. Gammon engaged with the Rockland Congregational Church in August of 2000 as a student intern to meet BTS course requirements.  He was later invited to apply for the Assistant Minister position at the church and was called to that post April of 2001.  Dr. Gammon graduated from St Joseph’s College and BTS in May of 2003.  He graduated from CFTS in June of 2003, receiving the John W. Claxton award for best representing the Congregational Way during his studies.  Having completed all his theological educational pursuits, the Rockland Congregational Church extended a call to ministerial ordination to Dr. Gammon.  He was ordained following a two-hour intensive interview process through “The Ecclesiastical Vicinage Council” convened by the Maine State Council of Congregational Christian Churches.  Receiving a favorable vote of affirmation by the Council, the church ordained Dr. Gammon on November 9th, 2003.

Dr. Gammon served the Rockland Congregational Church until September of 2005 when he responded to a pastoral call to serve the Florence Congregational Church of Florence, Massachusetts.  He served as the Florence Church pastor until January 2020.  During his tenure with the Florence congregation, Dr. Gammon returned to Bangor Theological to complete a Doctor of Ministry graduate degree program.  He received his D-Min degree in June of 2013 after completing his dissertation: Nourishing the Mind, Body and Spirit.  While at Florence, Dr. Gammon accepted a call to become the part-time Executive Director of the Fellowship of Northeast Congregational Christian Churches in May of 2017.  This position was expanded to full time beginning September of 2019 when his position at Florence was reduced to part-time.

Dr. Gammon enjoys serving the Fellowship churches with ambitions to assist them with post-pandemic strategic planning and visioning processes.  While disheartened by the COVID impact on the churches, he does see opportunities for rebirth and renewal on the horizon. 

Dr. Gammon has enjoyed 38 years of marriage to Brenda Gammon.  They have two daughters, three grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren.  Dr. Gammon continues to recognize Brenda’s love for Christian ministry crediting her for his success in his pastoral call.  Dr. Gammon enjoys study, reading, biking, hiking, and his gym membership.

Doug Loux, MBA

Treasurer

Douglas Loux worked at the Social Security Administration for 30+ years, where he served as an operations supervisor and area systems coordinator. Since his retirement, he has worked at numerous volunteer and part time positions, currently as a disability advocate. He has served the NACCC on its board of directors, Congregational Investment Trust, and finance committee.  He has been parliamentarian for the past two annual meetings.

Doug has served his own church, Florence Congregational, as moderator, treasurer, and trustee.  He has been active in the Fellowship for fifteen years, having previously been elected as moderator.

Doug lives with his wife Kerry in Florence, Massachusetts.  They have recently taken on new roles as grandparents.

Rev. Karen Roy, Secretary

Karen L. Roy-Guglielmi grew up and actively participated in the Second Congregational Church in Holyoke, Massachusetts.  She graduated from a then United Church of Christ supported Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Biology and Secondary Education.  She taught Biology for 10 years in Granby, Massachusetts. 

Sensing a call, Karen taught Biology at Inanda Seminary, a private High School for girls, in South Africa, supported by the United Church Board for World Ministries, from March, 1980-December, 1984.  Karen returned to the United States to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts.  She received a Master of Divinity (1989) and a Doctor of Ministry (2004) from Gordon-Conwell.  Karen received a call to serve Union Congregational Church, Rockville, as Associate Pastor and was ordained there, January 14, 1990.  She was called as Senior Pastor of Union Congregational Church, in 1994, where she served until, she “retired” in January, 2006.  Karen “flunked” retirement!  She began serving Grace Congregational Church, Farmington, in November, 2006 and has become active in the Northeast Fellowship.  

Karen married William Guglielmi on October 15, 1994 and has two step-children, Karin Anne and Steven and two grandsons, Luke and Mario.  She enjoys quilting and gardening.
